January 16, 2017, by Sam Bayley. KTLA have been successful in attaining a project grant from the Western Australian Government through the State NRM Program Community Action Grants 2016-17. The project is called Karajarri Integrated Coastal Management and will look to increase the ecological knowledge of the intertidal reef, mangrove, seagrass and savannah woodland systems by building capacity of rangers to undertake baseline (and ongoing) ecological monitoring. In addition it will implement tourism management strategies such as car park and trail infrastructure and educational signage to help mitigate the effects of increased tourism pressure. Together these management strategies will increase the amenity of the area for public use while maintaining the integrity of the ecological, cultural and social values.
